Indian Wedding

Indian Wedding is not as simple as other weddings. There are different ceremonies involved in Indian Weddings. Starts with Ganesh Pooja happens at home with couple, bridal party and close relatives. Mehndi Ceremony and Sangeet takes place on second day. Main wedding ceremony happens on second day or third day. After Baraat or groom's procession, bride and her family greet the groom, couple exchanges floral garlands to wear around their necks. This will symbolize their acceptance of each other.

A Hindu marriage is a sacrament, not a contract.

Mandap

Indian Weddings are held at Hindu Temples. In New York, modern couples selects wedding venue in eastern long island for their wedding. There was a decorated, four pillared structure called Mandap where the wedding ceremony take place. Chairs were set up in front of Mandap to view the wedding ceremony. The priest lights holy fire (Agni). The couples stepped around the fire seven times, symbolizing seven sacred vows given to each other. Couples exchanged rings before traditional wedding ceremony. Traditionally, the bride got red powder applied on part of her hair, along with a necklace called Mangal sutra. Enjoy watching photographs of these couples from Placid Media Wedding Photographers.

To signify the viability of the ceremony, fire is kept as a witness and offerings are made.
